Precision Rifle Network is proud to partner with the Pete Lien & Sons Shooting Sports Complex, just outside of Rapid City, SD. The Complex is a premier shooting facility built for enthusiasts, hunters, and law enforcement training and education.

Of particular interest to the PRN community, their 400-plus-acre property pairs dedicated classroom and exhibit spaces with a robust long-distance range featuring steel targets out to 1,200 yards. It’s an ideal setting for instruction, hands-on training, and pushing long-range skills in a real-world environment.

THE CLASSROOM.

Our in-person precision rifle class focuses on a clear, practical introduction to long-range shooting. These classroom-based sessions run 2 to 3 hours and are designed to build a strong foundation by breaking down the gear, terminology, and core fundamentals of precision rifle shooting. After completing this introductory course, students will have a solid understanding of rifle setup, shooting fundamentals, and the concepts required to begin applying these skills on the range.

Gear Essentials

What gear actually matters to get started, and what doesn’t. Rifle types, optics basics, support equipment, and how to avoid overspending on things that won’t help early on.

Rifle Setup & Zeroing

How to properly set up a rifle for long-range work, including scope mounting concepts, zero distance, and why a good zero is the foundation of everything that follows.

Fundamentals of Marksmanship

Body position, natural point of aim, trigger control, breathing, and follow-through. The repeatable mechanics that allow shooters to make consistent hits at distance.

Basic Ballistics

An introduction to bullet flight, drop, velocity, and how elevation adjustments work. Understanding what your bullet is doing and why you need data to make accurate corrections.

Intro to Wind Calling

How wind affects bullet flight, what to look for downrange, and simple methods for estimating and applying wind holds without overcomplicating it.

Practical Application & Next Steps

How all of these concepts work together, common beginner mistakes, and how to continue training. This sets the stage for future on-range classes and advanced instruction or competition.
